Speak, Lord, Your Word

Speak, Lord, Your Word
Your servant is attentive and awake
Speak, Lord, Your Word
My heart is eager to obey

Speak, Lord, Your Word
Make it heard in my heart
Speak, Lord, Your Word
Make it heard in my heart

(repeat)

In my heart

Lord, to whom shall I go?
You alone have the Words of eternal life.

In my heart

Alleuia!

In my heart

Glory to You Lord Jesus Christ!

In my heart

Speak, Lord, Your Word
Your servant is attentive and awake

STORY BEHIND THIS SON...

Shhh... Listen. Pay close attention, and open your heart.

The Holy Gospel of Jesus Christ is about to be read. These are the words that will save us from sin and death. These are the words that will lead us to Heaven. These are the words of eternal life!

It takes a great deal of self-discipline to prepare your heart for worship. One must put aside every distraction, and take every thought captive. Come ready to listen and willing to obey what you hear.

If you walk away from the holy Mass thinking, "I didn't get anything out of that today.", it is most likely due to the hardness of your own heart, not because of the lackluster homily or poorly performed music.

In writing Christian music,
lyrics have to be
the heartbeat of the song.
After all, it is the lyrics
that primarily distinguish Christian music
from secular music.
It's not the only mark
of distinction,
but it is
the most important.
