Psalm 136

Give thanks to the Lord
For His lovingkindness
For His lovingkindness
Yes, His lovingkindness is everlasting

Give thanks to the Lord, for He is good
For His lovingkindness is everlasting
Give thanks to the God of gods
For His lovingkindness is everlasting

Give thanks to the Lord of lords
Give thanks to the Lord of lords
Give thanks to the Lord of lords
Give thanks to the Lord, for He is good
For His lovingkindness is everlasting

To Him who alone does great wonders
For His lovingkindness is everlasting
To Him who made the heavens with skill
For His lovingkindness is everlasting

To Him who made the earth
To Him who made the earth
To Him who made the earth
Give thanks to the God of all creation
For His lovingkindness is everlasting

For His lovingkindness is everlasting

Give thanks to the Lord
For His lovingkindness is everlasting

For His lovingkindness
For His lovingkindness
Yes, His lovingkindness is everlasting

STORY BEHIND THIS SON...

Beginning the Liturgy of the Word with a lively responsorial Psalm. I set this Psalm to very energetic music that almost dances, because its message (when I really think about it) should make my heart dance for joy!

God loves us with an everlasting love. What else can I do but thank Him for His goodness? What else can I do but return love for love?

Alleluia!

In writing Christian music,
lyrics have to be
the heartbeat of the song.
After all, it is the lyrics
that primarily distinguish Christian music
from secular music.
It's not the only mark
of distinction,
but it is
the most important.
